Examples and why they are important
Have you've been struggling to substantiate your IELTS essay with examples.Let us look at some ways of how you can do it.
IELTS Writing Task 2 asks the candidate to support the answer with examples and this at times can be quite challenging as thinking of a good example that too in a situation when time is ticking could be tough
So how to go about it!!!well the key to this lies in your preparation.A lot of candidates while preparing focus too much on developing their vocabulary and learning how to write complex sentences that they ignore this vital aspect of IELTS essay. It is very important that you read a lot and enrich yourself in the prep stage so that you have some basic idea about various topics and do qnot find yourself confused and puzzled in your exam.
What kind of example should you put well it's important that you refrain from writing personal examples and do not give vague facts in your essay by quoting figures of some research or study. This is the biggest flaw I've seen students committing while writing the essay.
For example you have to write an IELTS essay giving opinion on importance of sports in the life of school children.
A wrong example of such an essay would be ..for example a recent study done by Times magazine in United states has revealed that around 70 percent children suffer from obesity and this is largely due to inactive lifestyle and lack of sports.
The correct approach to this example would be For example a recent report published in Times magazine has revealed that there has been a considerable rise in figures of obese children in America over the past few years and this is mainly due to inactivity and lack of sports.
So you can mention the name of newspaper magazine any government agency to give the example but avoid giving any figure or data in your essay.
